Reflect on the Year-long Learnings (November 2024)

Dear Hawan Kids,

As we approach the end of this transformative year, it’s time to reflect on the journey we’ve embarked upon together. Over the past 10 months, you’ve engaged in a series of thought-provoking assignments designed to help you discover your strengths, passions, and values. Now, we invite you to summarize your learnings from these experiences.

Your assignment this month is to create a reflection piece that captures your growth and insights. Below are some of the ideas that can help you in collecting your thoughts for this summary.

Self-Discovery: how the assignments helped you become more aware of your interests, strengths, and values. What new aspects of yourself did you uncover?

For example, did you realize that you have a passion for storytelling after writing a personal narrative?

Personal Growth: how your perspective on yourself and your potential has evolved since the beginning of this journey.

Perhaps you started the year feeling unsure about your abilities but now feel confident in leading group projects or discussions.

Future Aspirations: how these exercises have influenced your thoughts about your future goals and career aspirations.

Did exploring different careers during our research assignment spark an interest in fields like environmental science or graphic design?

Skill Development: any new skills or abilities you’ve developed or improved upon through these assignments.

For instance, have you become more proficient in public speaking after presenting your findings on a topic that interests you?

Value Alignment: how your understanding of your personal values has deepened, and how this might guide your future decisions.

Maybe you discovered that creativity is a core value for you, influencing your choice to pursue art or design in high school.

Challenges and Overcoming: reflect on any challenges you faced during these assignments and how you overcame them.

Think about a time when you struggled with time management while balancing multiple projects and what strategies helped you succeed.

Memorable Moments: highlight any particularly impactful moments or realizations you had during this process.

Was there a specific discussion or activity that made you rethink your approach to teamwork or leadership?

Application in Daily Life: think how you’ve applied the insights gained from these assignments in your day-to-day life.

For example, have you started volunteering or joined clubs that align with your newfound interests and values?

Remember, this month’s assignment gives you a chance to truly understand the remarkable journey of self-discovery you’ve undertaken. Your responses should be genuine, thoughtful, and reflective of your personal experiences.

As you pull together your summary, think back to that 13-year-old Sara we discussed earlier this year (in Feb, 2024 assignment). Like her, you too have embarked on a journey of self-discovery. Your summary should paint a picture of your own “upward flight” – the positive trajectory that has begun with these assignments.

We look forward to listening to your reflections and celebrating the strides you’ve made in understanding and embracing your unique strengths and passions.

Wishing you all the best in this reflective endeavor!

Regards,

Harsh Mendiratta
