Ishwar Stuti Prarthana Upasana continues… (November 2019)
Ishwar Stuti Prarthana Upasana is a set of eight mantras that have been picked from the Vedas (mainly Yajurveda). After covering the first four mantras earlier, we will focus on the final four mantras (i.e., #5 through #8) this month as the part of this month’s assignment.
Mantra #5
Om yena dyau ru graa prithi vee cha dri dhaa yena svasta bhi tam yen naakah.
Yo ant rikshe raja so vimaa nah kas mai devaa ya havi sha vidhe ma.|5|
ओ३म् येन द्यौ रुग्रा पृथिवी चदृढा येन स्व: स्तभितं येन नाक:।
यो अन्तरिक्षे रजसो विमान: कस्मै देवाय हविषा विधेम ॥5॥
Om (God) is the One…
- Who firmly supports and sustains glorious and mighty earth, sun, and stars;
- Who created and pervades the sky and space;
- Who created and moves various heavenly bodies in the vast space of the universe;
- Who is the personification of happiness and moksha;
- And, who provides liberation from miseries.
Let’s adore and meditate upon such Entity (God) with complete faith and devotion.
कविता के रूप में:
तारे, रवि, चन्द्रादि बनाकर निज प्रकाश चमकाया है।
धरणी को धारण कर तूने कौशल अलख लखाया है।।
तू ही विश्व-विधाता, पोषक, तेरा ही हम ध्यान धरें।
शुद्ध भाव से भगवन्, तेरे भजनामृत का पान करें।।
Mantra #6
Om praaja pate na tva detaa nya nyo vish vaa jaa taani pari taa ba bhoova.
Yat kaamaa ste juhu mast anno astu va yam syaa ma pata yo rayee naam.|6|
ओ३म् प्रजापते न त्वदेतान्यन्यो विश्वा जातानि परिता बभूव।
यत्कामास्ते जुहुमस्तन्नो अस्तु वयं स्याम पतयो रयीणाम् ॥6॥
Oh lord of all creatures, none other than You is better. You alone have the capacity to control and protect this, that, and every created things. You are above all. You are supreme. May you fulfil our auspicious material and spiritual desires. May we possess bounteous wealth and other material things of the world, advance on spiritual path in life, and achieve peace, harmony, and bliss.
कविता के रूप में:
तूझसे बडा न कोई जग में, सबमें तू ही समाया है।
जड चेतन सब तेरी रचना, तुझमें आश्रय पाया है।।
हे सर्वोपरि विभो, विश्व का तूने साज सजाया है।
धन दौलत भरपूर दीजिये यही भक्त को भाया है।।
Mantra #7
Om sa no ban dhur jani taa sa vidha taa dhaa maani veda bhuva naani vish vaa.
Yat ra devaa amrit maana shaanaa stri tee ye dhaa manna dhyai ra yanta.|7|
ओ३म् स नो बन्धुर्जनिता स विधाता धामानि वेद भुवनानि विश्वा।
यत्र देवा अमृत मानशानास्तृतीये धामन्नध्यैरयन्त ॥7॥
God (Om) alone is our closest kin (teacher, parents, friend, king). He, the creator and sustainer of the universe, knows everything and delivers justice (karmphaldata).
While giving us happiness and joy in this world, He alone is capable of giving us bliss after death. Thus, we all meditate upon Him for the attainment of knowledge and liberation.
कविता के रूप में:
तू गुरु है, प्रजेश भी तू है, पाप-पुण्य फलदाता है।
तू ही सखा-बन्धु मम तू ही, तुझसे ही सब नाता है।।
तू है अज, अद्वैत, महाप्रभु सर्वकाल का ज्ञाता है।
भक्तोंको इस भव-बन्धन से, तू ही मुक्त कराता है।।
Mantra #8
Om agne na ya su pathaa raa ye as maan vish vaani deva vayu naani vid vaan,
yuyo dhya smaj juhu raan meno bhoo yish thaam te nama uk tim vidhema.|8|
ओ३म् अग्ने नय सुपथा राये अस्मान् विश्वानिदेव वयुनानि विद्वान।
युयोध्यस्मज्जुहुराणमेनो भूयिष्ठां ते नम उक्तिं विधेम ॥8॥
O God (Om), O Self-illuminant, O Agni, You are the personification of knowledge. I pray to You to destroy my debasing and sinful desires and help me proceed on the righteous path. May I remember you during each waking moment, and you stay in my heart and mind while I am sleeping. Please bless me such that I keep singing your glory and meditating upon You.
कविता के रूप में:
तू है स्वयं प्रकाश रूप प्रभु, सबका सिरजनहार तू ही।
रसना निशि-दिन रटे तुम्हीं को, मन में बसता सदा तू ही।।
कुटिल पाप से हमें बचाते रहना, हर दम दया निधान।
अपने भक्त जनों को भगवन्, दीजै यहीं विशद वरदान।।
Kids are expected to memorize the four mantras and expand on one of them. Also, as a bonus, they can memorize one or more of the mantras in the kavita form.
