Indian Festivals (October 2004)

Probably, it is not an exaggeration to call India a country of festivals. Indian festivals are large in number and extremely diverse in nature, like festivals belonging to various religious beliefs, national and regional significant events, seasonal and sometime family traditions. These festivals not only bring excitement and thrill but also make our lives colorful. They remind us of our rich culture and strong heritage. They provide us with opportunity to take break from our day-to-day routine and reflect upon the values and teachings.

Though Indian festivals are spread throughout the year, this time of year, however, is filled with many well-known festivals. Lets take advantage of this festival season to talk with kids about the festivals that we celebrate. This month, kids can prepare to talk about the festivals they observe, like, what, how and why.
